Assessment at Evergreen Academy

The assessment process at Evergreen Academy is designed to identify and address each pupil’s unique needs, enabling the implementation of effective teaching and learning strategies. It considers not only students’ cognitive processes, perceptions, and reasoning but also the social, organisational, and environmental factors influencing their learning and development.

Assessment at Evergreen follows a continuous cycle of assessment, planning, implementation, and impact review, as outlined in Figure 1 and guided by our Principles of Assessment.

  1. Establish Strong Starting Points:
Gather pre-induction information to identify starting points and celebrate progress.
  2. Comprehensive Understanding:
Conduct academic baselines and assess social, emotional, and behavioural dispositions to fully understand the diverse needs of each child.
  3. Inform Growth and Achievement:
Use gathered data to bridge gaps in learning and development, while charting pathways to develop academic and behavioural success.
  4. Ongoing and Holistic Assessment:
Employ a range of assessment approaches to ensure every child’s achievements are recognised and celebrated.
